Q&A with Make-up Artist, Hannah Murray
Tell us about the look we are seeing on Helmut Lang’s Spring 2014 runway.
The Helmut Lang girl this season is polished, refined and beautiful with a 90s edge. I’ve brought a sporty flush to the cheeks, a squeaky clean moist texture to the skin, a clear gloss on the eye and this great deep brown-red diffused lip which is the main focus.
What beauty product should we go and buy now?
A deep burgundy lipstick. Worn with nothing on the eyes and beautiful skin it feels fresh and modern in its finish. This isn’t about a perfect hard clean edged lip. It has an intensity to it but the diffused stain at the edges feels effortless. I achieved this by applying to the centre of the lip directly from the bullet and then used NARS Large Dome Eye Brush to wash the color across the lips
As the weather starts to change, what should we integrate into our daily beauty routine to save our skin?
Skin prep is always the most important part of the make-up application for me. Regular exfoliation, a radiance boosting serum (NARS Optimal Brightening Concentrate), and a moisture packed cream (NARS Luminous Moisture Cream) gives you the best glow before you begin. Then I like to use just a concealer where needed so that your skin shows through.
What beauty trend do you see dominating the runways this season?
It’s a little early to say! I’ve only seen one collection so far. 90s beauty still feels current and fresh somehow so I wouldn’t be surprised if this trend continues. And it feels right go against the grain and go with a deeper slightly “off” lip color for Spring Summer as opposed to the usual pretty brighter shades.
The Helmut Lang girl should never leave the house without ______ in her make-up bag.
NARS Satin Lip pencil in Golshan (use on cheeks for sporty flush and on lips for an effortless stain)
